Seungah Kwon

Seungah Kwon is a second-year DMA student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She currently serves as a director of the University Chorus at UIUC and a music director of the First Presbyterian Church of Urbana. Ms. Kwon holds two master’s degrees in choral conducting and orchestral conducting from the University of Louisville. She attended the Korea National University of Arts in Seoul, South Korea, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in choral conducting summa cum laude in 2015.

As a musician and an accompanist who loves teaching music, Seungah has had many experiences involving conducting and teaching. She went to Malawi, Africa, and volunteered as a music teacher at the Lusubilo Music Center in 2014. For the 130th anniversary of Korean-French relations, she conducted a piece of contemporary music specially commissioned for the anniversary at the Seoul of Art in 2016. She also conducted the Hankook University of Foreign Studies Choir for three years and, for four years, was an assistant conductor for the Yangju City Children’s Choir.
