Part of a Series of Paintings by Stephen Towns inspired by James Weldon Johnson’s poem Lift Every Voice and Sing which is often referred to as the Negro National Anthem.

This Sunday will be filled with lots of music to praise the Lord, including several hymns requested by our church members. Come, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” in the congregation—or if you wish, this is the Sunday you can try singing with the choir. Any and all who are interested in singing are welcome to join. All skill levels welcome, no experience necessary! We will meet in the choir loft at 8:30 a.m. to learn a simple piece to be sung in worship that day.

Whether in the choir loft or below, “We Are One in the Spirit.” We will pray “Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God” and we will be reminded of our “Blessed Assurance”. We will “New Songs of Celebration Render” then “We Will Go Out with Joy” and “They’ll Know We Are Christians by our Love.”
