Many churches will be celebrating Good Shepherd Sunday this week as the lectionary features a passage from John 10, as well as Psalm 23, which we will sing responsively. Since the day also coincides with Mother’s Day, the lectionary coordinates well with the passage from Acts 9 and the raising of Tabitha. The reading presents the great love the little church in Joppa had for Tabitha. Their great love for her lead to the gift of new life. We know that love is stronger than hate, and that love can cover a multitude of sins. But the gift we celebrate during these weeks of Easter is new life. Love has the power to renew, redeem, refresh, and revive. Join us on Sunday as we continue our celebration of life lived in the light of the Resurrection.
