The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body.
– 1 Corinthians 12:12
Supporting the Larger Church’s Mission
By contributing to the mission projects of our denomination we pool the resources of the entire Presbyterian Church (USA) to address the needs of our neighbors at the regional, state, national and international levels. Our yearly contributions to the One Great Hour of Sharing and other PC(USA) missions support a wide range of programs, including:
- The Presbyterian Disaster Relief Program, which supports communities devastated by natural or human-caused disasters;
- The Presbyterian Hunger Program, which works to alleviate hunger and its systemic causes, and promote community access to sufficient and healthy food; and
- The Self Development of People Program which partners with people and communities to alleviate poverty, oppression,and injustice through development and education.
Youth Mission Trips
Every other year our high school youth participate in a week long Go-and-Serve trip during the summer. Recent mission trip destinations include Kentucky, West Virginia, and New Orleans. The Mission trip often involves home repair along with time to learn about the community we are visiting, the challenges they face, how God is at work in their lives as well as ours, and ways in which we can be advocates for people facing similar challenges in our own community.
