“Mary of Bethany and Jesus,” part of a woodcarving at Paszyn, Poland.

Most days we can be thankful that our humble offerings of ourselves are sufficient for God. A cup of cold water for someone who is thirsty. Sharing the spare bedroom for an unexpected guest. Preparing a meal for someone recovering from a hospitalization or a funeral. A simple card letting someone know that we care about them. Small kindnesses and simple graces. God loves such good works. But sometimes more is needed, and sometimes that more can seem crazy extravagant. Join us on Sunday to hear the story from the Gospel of John about the crazy thing Mary did for Jesus. There are occasions when we cannot help but give all that we have.
