Meet at 8:00 a.m. to carpool at Schnucks, 109 N. Mattis Ave., Champaign. Return by 4:30 p.m. Visit rich remnants and new restoration efforts in the fascinating area featured in the film “Everglades of the North: The Grand Kankakee Marsh.” After an easy hike in Illinois’ best black oak savanna at Pembroke Nature Preserve, we’ll look for bison near Beaver Lake in Indiana. Our guide for the day is LCF Advisor Fran Harty, director of terrestrial conservation for The Nature Conservancy. Bring your own lunch/snacks/water/binoculars/camera and dress for the weather.
